The boots felt really good on my feet straight and this is no doubt due to the IMS system and the amazing insoles. Apparently its “ level of breathability increases over a period of 24 hours up to more than 11 times that of a conventionally made fabric“. The new British Army Pilgrim boot can be worn in a wide range of environments from a temperature range of -10°C to +35°C, plus a humidity range of 0%-80%. And I wish I could say that I was proven wrong, but man, those Salomon’s sure are comfy as hell, albeit they are fragile as hell too.The Internal Midsole System (IMS) is designed to reduce injury and enhance impact absorption when load carrying over uneven ground. Trekitt were instrumental in getting this boot on the issue list and we are immensely proud that a boot we originally designed in partnership with AKU is now officially recognised by the MOD. It is combined with a midsole in a microporous EVA and provides maximum sensitivity, precision and reaction to uneven terrains. With the instep tightened, and the laces locked into the clip at the bottom of the ankle, I found that my foot did not slide forward to hit the end of the boot, and my heel was positively locked in place and not slipping.

The padded collar on the boot is lined with a wicking fabric to help dispel heat and moisture from inside the boot. The official MOD version of the renowned AKU Pilgrim with improved breathability and drying thanks to the new Gore-Tex Performance Lining with a perforated EVA interlining.

Using feedback from Military personnel, Trekitt worked closely with AKU to develop this extremely popular range. With this in mind, I am surprised that they have been selected as a combat boot, especially with consideration to urban environments. It is also worth noting that these boots were made in Romania rather than the Italian factories, and are not part of the MOD Contract fabrication. Ankle protection is delivered by a specially designed upper which supports the ankle without adding extra mass to the boot meaning it can deliver the support of a much heavier style while remaining light weight.
